Bio

John Paul Howard is a filmmaker and designer currently serving as the cinematographer for PLC Detroit. His passion for intentional and crafted design first drew him into the world of cinema. With a background in architecture, Howard approaches film as an act of world-building, where space and story intertwine.

He has shot and developed documentaries such as Another Life, a narrative documentary following one man’s legal and political advocacy for HBCUs. He has also written original short screenplays like Some Sugar for My Baby, a playful exploration of love, food, and forgetfulness.

Howard is currently producing The Devil Take It, an original “based-on” screenplay that delves into loneliness and desire through the journey of a 24-hour bike ride from Lancaster, Pennsylvania to Brooklyn, New York. The original true story won him the first place prize on the Moth StorySlam Stage.
